Synergistic effect of alcohol & fructose administration on blood urate & biochemical indices of insulin resistance in albino rabbits.

چکیده
Oral fructose has been shown to reduce the degree and duration of alcohol intoxication by increasing the rate of alcohol elimination from bloodstream. Fructose feeding has also been reported to induce insulin resistance and the resistance is characterized by increase in both blood glucose and triacylglycerol (TAG) levels. We report the synergistic effect of ethanol and fructose administration on the biochemical indicators of insulin resistance (serum glucose and TAG), and the biochemical evidence for ethanol intoxication (serum urate levels) in an experimental study.

The Effect of Co-administration of Pioglitazone and Simvastatin on Insulin Resistance Parameters and PPAR.γ Expression in Insulin-resistant Rats
Backgrounds: Insulin resistance is a pathological condition associated with metabolic syndrome. In this condition, insulin action in liver, muscles, and adipocytes decreases which leads to hyperglycemia, hyperinsulinemia, and dyslipidemia. Thiazolidinediones (Pioglitazone) have been used to enhance insulin sensitivity but due to dyslipidemia associated with insulin resistance, ...
متن کاملAntidiabetic Effect of Hydroalcholic Urtica dioica Leaf Extract in Male Rats with Fructose-Induced Insulin Resistance
Background: Urtica dioica has been used as antihypertensive, antihyperlipidemic and antidiabetic herbal medicine. The purpose of this study was to study the effect of hydroalcoholic extract of Urtica dioica on fructose-induced insulin resistance rats. Methods: Forty male Wistar rats were randomly divided into five groups including control, fructose, extract 50, extract 100 and extract 2...
متن کاملTroxerutin Chronic Treatment Protects against Fructose-induced Metabolic Syndrome in Male Rats
Background and Aims: Metabolic syndrome, a common metabolic disorder, for the serious health consequences such as insulin resistance and lipid abnormalities has been considered as a major clinical challenge with obscure causes. Oxidative stress is an important component of metabolic syndrome, contributing in its development. Troxerutin, a semi-synthetic derivative of natural bioflavonoid rutin,...
متن کاملProtective Effects of Withania somnifera Root on Inflammatory Markers and Insulin Resistance in Fructose-Fed Rats
Background: We investigated the effects of Withania somnifera root (WS) on insulin resistance, tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α), and interleukin-6 (IL-6) in fructose-fed rats. Methods: Forty-eight Wistar-Albino male rats were randomly divided into four groups (n=12); Group I as control, Group II as sham-treated with WS by 62.5mg/g per diet, Group III fructose-fed rats received 10%...
متن کاملEffect of Vanadyl Sulfate on Fructose-Induced Insulin Resistance Rat
Insulin resistance syndrome, also referred to as the metabolic syndrome or syndrome X, refers to a constellation of common metabolic and cardiovascular disorders (e.g. obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and dyslipidemia), which are all cardiovascular risk factors. Insulin resistance can be induced by fructose-rich diet in rats. We investigated the effect of vanadyl sulfate (0.2 mg...
